Wierd... I am not sure, but I wonder if it is because you are trying to export them. I usually pretend like I am sending an e-mail from iPhoto (where you can choose small, medium, or large) and then just drag the resized photos into a folder called "for web" and import them from there. To send pictures from iPhoto, select the pictures you want (Use command clicks), then click the e-mail button. Hope this helps,
