Rock Climbing!

Hey Everybody!! These are the pictures from my Arkansas trip! It was sooo gorgeous! We drove up thurseday night and arrived at Horseshoe Canyon, near the Ozarks, around 1 or 2 in the morning. I really had no idea where I was at because it was pitch dark, so we set up camp and all went to bed. The next morning we had to wait a bit because it was raining, but by about 10 or 11 AM we got all our gear together (ropes, harnesses, chalk bags, carabiners etc.) and set out toward the most beautiful cliffs. Horseshoe canyon is actually a ranch mainly geared towards horseback riding. It has cabins and in the summer if you stay in those you get fed breakfast and do all sorts of activities. But that costs alot more. They let anyone camp there for five dollars a night. It is a huge canyon, in the shape of a (you guessed it) horseshoe. All of the sides are ideal for rock climbing. There is something like 400 different routes you can climb. The entire canyon is the ranch and there are animals everywhere. Horses and goats, dogs and a pig or two just wondered all over the place. Twice we woke up and there were horses investigating our campsite! The first morning I woke up early, and witnessed an actual stampede of horses running down a hill.
Anyway, we had a great time, enjoying the scenery, climbing, and camping out. There were so many beautiful wildflowers along the hiking trails and lots of little lizards etc.
I climbed alot better than I thought I would be able to. I was able to "send" (the official climbers lingo for getting to the top of a route) quite a few more advanced climbs. I sort of thought that I would be having trouble the whole time. Although I think my vegetarianism basically went out the window after climbing all day and then coming back to peanut butter and jellys! Saturday we went to a local restuarant in the nearest town and had the most glorious meal of our lives. I guess anything would taste good after two days of campfire food.
Well, I have to get dressed and go to class! Love you all!

Flowers, Cobourg and My Garden!

Hello to all of my beautiful family and friends! Sandy and I just returned from Canada where we spent a wonderful relaxing week! I celebrated my b-day Canadian style (not much different!:)), spent a lot of time down at the beach (lake Ontario) just gazing out over the water and thinking. It's one of my favorite spots in the world. We celebrated Easter with Sandy's grandparents and extended family in Toronto and Sandy was asked to play his bagpipes at his Uncles wedding this summer! Better start practicing! :) I got a new coffee machine that I'm very excited about because it makes the BEST coffee ever! Anne has the same one and I always look forward to her wonderful coffee everytime I go to Cobourg - and I now I have it too! Sandy and I also planned out the garden and started the first of a series of flower beds! I'm so excited! Sandy and I went to look at kayaks yesterday and were amazed at all the choices! Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets, car rack....and that's not including the fun nicknacks you get suckered into! whew!!! It's definitely going to be an investment - but we know it will be worthwhile! Anyway, here at home today I'm working on my new website, applying for another art show this summer, fixing a food dish for my woman's art group tonight and hopefully getting outside! I love you all soooooo much! Enjoy the Spring! - Katie PS: All of the stunning flowers are from the Dartmouth greenhouse when I spent a Friday down there with Aunty - Gwynny was along too! :)

Spring Opening and Leaf Cleaning

Hi Everybody! - So this is what's going on up North: Katie had her Spring Opening/Artwalk this weekend, which was a success! Especially with Sandy's awesome cookies and all of his great help doing dishes and keeping the punch bowl filled! Katie did some improvements on the gallery including new copper colored rods to hang art from, a green tree branch inside the gallery and a blue one outside to set the mood! Sandy and Katie also got in a lot of good yard work yesterday, hauling leaves about and laying out the plan for the new garden! The weather has been splendid this week - sunny and warm! Although snow is in the forecast for this week - darn! The cats are as wild as ever! And Sandy is heading to Quebec City this weekend with his French class and so Katie's going over to the Barry's for the weekend with the cats! Should be fun! Oh, also including a little ad that I made that is going in Resort Maps (but it really messed up on this blog - because the colors got reserved! So it's actually not so scary looking - but in purples and blues - so just imagine!). Love you all soooooooo much!!! Awesome pictures from the prom boys! You guys are so handsome! And growing up to quick! I love you so much! - Katie
