Times Gone By

Here are some old pictures of a fun photo shoot that Bet and I took (possibly Willow actually taking them at one point?). I used to love the old wedding dress that I'm wearing in a few of the pics, although I remember that the zipper didn't work on the back! I also love the one of Betony with the broom looking gypsy like! Ah the good old care-free days! Mom and Papa - thanks for giving us such a great childhood! Love you all! -K

Walking (new painting!)

Hi! I put this up on my Moon House Art blog just now, but wanted to share it here too - cause I'm not sure how often the other blog gets visited! Love you all so much! Katie

Greetings from a winter wonderland here in Vermont!

I've recently been thinking about family and how incredibly important and dear they are to me and how each and every one of them has shaped my life. More specifically I was thinking about Papa, my dad who lives in Kansas with my mom and twin brothers who are still at home. Papa and I have always gone on walks together around our prairie acreage and enjoy those moments being together and loving nature in it's peaceful, captivating and intriguing ways. I love walking out in that real world with Papa, noticing the little bugs in the grasses, picking out the different families of plants and growing things, and watching the birds flitting from tree to tree and feeling the wind on our skin. Papa always says the wind is the earth breathing, I love thinking of it in that way. We both have a sense of awe about the natural world - and I always love sharing that with him. With all of that in mind, this painting created itself of those times. Enjoy!

Daddy's B-day 2006

Hal/Daddy is now 78! We celebrated his birthday last night. Mama made rice and meatballs and double-mocha cake (from scratch!). Yummy meal. Then, we played Up and Down, the card game. Katie and Sandy and Elise called from Vermont and sang happy birthday to Daddy. Fun. Also had fun phone calls from Willow and Aunty! Mama got Daddy tickets to Count Bassie (sp?) who is performing at the Fox this season.

Love you all.

Kanza Prairie!

These are all pictures from when Grant, Erin, James and I went to the Konza Prairie. It was a couple day before school started and the weather was gorgious!! For those of you who don't know Erin is my current roommate. James (the one with long hair) is my friend and Erin's boy friend, and Grant is a really good friend as well as my future roommate. Erin, Grant and I are getting a house to live in this summer.
All is good here. I am already up to my nose in homework, which is not helped by the fact that not all of my textbooks have arrived. Also I will be missing a couple classes on monday to see Bush talk. Thats right G Dub is coming to speak at KState! I am considering emailing him to see if he would right me a note excusing my from class. Do think he'd do it?? haha riggghhhtt...
I hope everyone is fantastic! I love you all!

Treasure Clues

I meant to put some of Daddy's famous clues on the blog yesterday too. So here they are today. Can you figure them out? (the hint is that the hunt took place outside the barn)

1) Although she is afar northeast, what she grows is near. That is all the clue you'll get this year!

2) You hardly ever use me, but I've been here all the time. If you ever lose your power, just drop me a line.

3) You think you have a lot of pull, but you are barely International!

4) When the cold wind blows, says Molly B, you break it up or you'll hear from me.

5) I have a complexion of peaches and cream, but if I get loaded I'm going to scream.

6) I served you well for 1/12 of a year. I gave you joy, good health and cheer.

7) If you are all done in, take it from me: Solve it all in town and country.

Good Luck!!!

Winter Cave

Hi Again, just wanted to share this recent painting with you that I did for an illustrators contest. It's what Ben sees inside a cave when he is trying to take shelter from a winter storm in the woods. Tell me what you think! Love you! K

Inside the cave its like a beautiful tapestry rug - an awesome place to be warm and cozy from the storm and dream starry dreams - yet the magic door calls one onward and upward to find what awaits on the other side. Its beautiful! Love Mom

Ice ice baby

Hi guys! Just wanted to share this cool picture with you - this is looking out over the river a few days again and watching the ice chunks float by. Sandy loves it when it happens - he has a fascination with moving water, and I guess the things that move IN it too! :) Anyway, I'm just home today getting art stuff organized and waiting for our new washing machine to arrive! It's raining here today with grey skies, but the little red stove is going strong and I'm off to make a cappuccino! Love you all! - Katie

Finally!!!

Hi All! Wow - it's been a while since I did this! Sorry! Anyway, these pictures are pretty random and I was even trying to sort them out, but I guess it didn't work! Anyway, so the run down goes like this: Meagan and Elise at our Barry Christmas, Anne and Bill's x-mas tree in Cobourg that we all helped decorate, a view of Anne's remodeled kitchen (although you probably don't remember much of the old one!), Christmas morning sunrise looking out from Anne and Bill's front porch through some christmas decor, Jenn, Anne, Christy and I in front of the fireplace, Christmas morning about to open stockings, christmas eve party at a friend of the cross/flindall family in Cobourg, Sandy and I, a pic of the new NBS facilities in Toronto (see the ballet costume in the window! the dance studios are all in those big windows, really nice! Wish I had been around for that!), Bill getting a new drill for Christmas (we all throught he looked funny I guess), a view out across Barbara's (Sandy's grama) front lawn through the window, singing Christmas carols and her house with a bunch of her friends and family, Another NBS pic, Sandy in downtown Cobourg, Stirling loving the little red stove, and pictures of the cold lake Ontario and the cool ice patterns on the beach! Whew! Well, got to move along. I love you guys soooooo much! Katie
